Take Me To The River - Al Green - Hottscull September 28th 2008 5:15

Cool rendition there Cliff. You looked and sounded smooth and in control. Like you've been playing that with Mr. Green for years bro!
Thanks for the post..

Thanks guys! Just letting the music breathe.

BTW that dumb look on my face is me listening to my guitar tone over the song. teegee\'s got me in this fun habit of jacking with my pickups now, so the look is me listening to myself. I really wanted the bridge to sound wicked smooth (that\'s why I was adjusting my pickup). Then I went and muddied the G and B7 coming out of the C#5 and A7 with poor left hand technique. Grrr!

Dude. GE Smith would be proud of you for playing that Al Green tune. You know that was one musician he suggested everyone should develop the \"big ears\" with. Sounded good BTW. I see you\'re using different finger positions for the same chords too. It gives it a different sound doing that. If you need some help tweekin\' those pups, gimme a call.

Nice. I think David Byrne / Talking Heads when I hear this song.
Great job Cliff.

Gotta admit...had to get Talking Heads out of my brain on this one. I dislike all of their stuff and remember when they put the song out, how much saturation they got on the radio. I love Al Green\'s original sooooo much more than their version.

Excercising my big ears. And my fingers. Nice and simple again, only this time I'm introducing 2 complex chords (an A7 and a B7 in the bridge). Today's the first day I've played my Lone Star since before I went to Pittsburgh too. Been a long time!
