Cliffy\'s got his groove back! Glad to see that baby sitting on your knee again bro. She was longing to be fingered.

You can also use a moveable C7 chord to play that tune:

The first position for C7 is played like this: 032310

So slide it down to the 3rd fret and play this for D7: 054530

Then up to the 8th fret and play this for G7: /x/10/9/10/8/x/

And up two more frets to the 10th fret to play A7: /x/12/11/12/10/x/

Keep \'em comin\' Dude!

Thanks for watching. Thanks for the kind words.

LOL no seriously, my fingers are killing me today. Me index finger feels like it\'s on fire cuz I cut it open playing another song. I somehow managed to put a pinhole sized open wound on my index finger last night practicing slides on the high string.

I always thought the phrase \'play \'til your fingers bleed\' was a just a figure of speech. Nope. With no caluse I just wore right through to the meat. Ouch!

Cliff

Doesn\'t look like you lost a step. Your rhythm is impeccable. I have been trying to improve my rhythm strumming. I could study this video for awhile.
A little insight into your rhythm strumming would be nice for the community .

Insight, huh? Okay, I\'ll try to explain it. Though it\'s tough right now because I never gave the rhythm a thought until now.

The rhythm came about as a product of what I was really trying to accomplish. I wanted to play \"nice and easy\" in a straight 1-2-3-4 count. As you watch the video I start out tapping the top of my guitar along with the band. What I\'m doing in my head is getting that 1-2-3-4 count down, then when the tapping stops I transferred the count to my right foot, then to my left. I naturally tap with my right foot, but with a guitar in my lap I have to tap with my left to keep from bouncing the guitar up and down.

With that count I knew I\'d be strumming \'1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and\' to keep my play \"nice and easy\". That\'s all I was going for...nice and easy. I\'m just trying to get back into the swing of playing again. Anyway, my left foot tap is dictating my right arm up and down motion. Throughout the song my arm never stops D U D U D U D U. But playing D U D U D U D U in a \'1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and\' tempo is too rudimentary musically. So I kept the D U D U motion and skipped certain strums so that others were more accented. What resulted was a nice and easy DD...UUDD rhythm. More importantly I didn\'t consciously play this rhythm pattern -- it was just what I felt. Ya know, I could\'ve played any number of patterns in that tempo but that one was what I was feeling at the moment.

As for the song, didn\'t care. The song was purely secondary to what I wanted to do. In fact, it was just something playing for me to work on my count, tempo, etc. I could\'ve used any song in any key. But this one just happened to be very short in duration (1:45 I think) and is exactly 3 12-bar progressions long. When I moved up the neck in the triad shape to play the IV and V chords I was simply applying what I\'d recently learned from teegee to mix up the progression. So that was a plus.

There you have it. Does any of this count as insight?

I haven't had any quality time with my guitars in a long long time. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, get my muscle memory back, get my calluses back too. Short simple songs are all my fingers can take these days. Let's give it a go!
